There is no end in sight for emergency sewer works in Victoria Road, Surbiton, Thames Water has said.
The water company said workers had removed concrete by hand from a 12-metre stretch of sewer pipe in the last four weeks.
The pipe, nine inches in diameter, was completely clogged.
The company does not know how much of the pipe remains to be cleared.
Workers cannot use diggers to remove the blockage, Thames Water said, because electricity cables and a gas main are too close to the sewer pipe.
Last week the Surrey Comet reported businesses claimed they were losing up to 60 per cent of trade due to disruption along Victoria Road.
The road remains open one-way only, with buses on diversion.
The cause of the blockage is not yet known.
