Chessington World of Adventures (CWOA) could not confirm this morning whether people stuck for hours on the Rameses Revenge ride yesterday will be compensated.

Almost 40 people, including children, had to be cut free by firefighters after the ride became jammed.

A man who was stuck with his wife and two children, who wished not to be named, told the Surrey Comet last night that ride-goers called emergency services themselves.

He waited three-and-a-quarter hours before being freed, he said.

A CWOA spokeswoman said: “The ride will remain closed while investigations take place into the cause of the stoppage and any required remedial work is completed.”

Paul Warner, from Ewell, said the ride had been closed for repairs when he visited the park three weeks ago.
