Legendary pop star Chesney Hawkes inspired potential pop stars of the future as he played music on a grand piano at a Surbiton school.

The One and Only singer played at Shrewsbury House School last Thursday on the recommendation of his manager, whose son attends the school.

The 41-year-old was shooting the video for his new single Caught up in Circles.

He said: "The school is brimming with young musical talent and I couldn't have wished for a better environment".

Headmaster Kevin Doble said: "It was quite a remarkable day.

"It was hugely exciting to have a man who has had a worldwide hit at the school, not to mention inspiring for the pupils to meet a man who has made a career out of music."

Around shooting the video, Hawkes found time to talk to the pupils including pop stars in the making Jonathan Cassens, a talented young pianist, and Luca Wade.

The ever-green singer wrote himself into pop history more than two decades ago in 1991 with The One and Only, and has recently been filming a piece for Friday’s Children In Need.
