Investment bank worker by day, poet by night, spoken word artist Anna Le is not your typical tragic thespian.

Throw into the mix an upbringing in Thornton Heath and the 28-year-old, who is set to release her first album Nth Entities, is very much the "mixed Caribbean kebab", she describes herself as.

She says: "My parents were both born in England but beyond that I have relatives from Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana. I didn’t really take up poetry until about four years ago. I was asked to write something about Jimmy Hendrix and as part of performing that I met Phil Manzanera."

The Roxy Music guitarist and solo artist is releasing the album under his own record label Expression Records, and has added his compositions to nine of Anna Le’s poems.

She says: "The connection we had was amazing. I write about what is important to me, personal things, but he just seems to be able to capture the mood perfectly."

Nth Entities is Anna's first poetry collection, but she has been published in South Bank Poetry, Rising and various Talking Musical Revolution publications including the anthology for the Madness, Do Not Adjust Your Nut, UK Tour in 2010.

The contract negotiator, who works in The City, is also curator and co-host of Sage & Time, a monthly poetry event at The Barbican.

Nth Entities is released on sale on April 30.
