A 21-year-old man was glassed on Good Friday in Thames Ditton, after he hooted his car horn at a woman.
The assault happened at about 6.40pm at the junction of Mercer Close and Watts Road. The victim and two friends were driving past the woman and her boyfriend when they hooted.
As they parked the car, the boyfriend approached them with a glass bottle and asked why they had "hooted at his girl".
After some discussion the boyfriend turned to walk off but the victim followed him. The boyfriend then smashed the glass bottle on a bench and struck the jagged edge into the man's face before running off in the direction of Thames Ditton High Street.
The victim was taken to Kingston Hospital where he was treated for deep lacerations to his face. The attacker is described as a black male, aged 18 to 20, 5ft 10ins to 5ft 11ins and of medium build.
He was wearing a long-sleeved navy blue rugby top with white stripes and white collar, baggy jeans, trainers and a black baseball cap with blue and white stripes and NY written on the front in white.
