Unknown UK is British streetwear label operated By Joe Granger and Callum Vineer which first launched at the end of 2016.

The concept behind the name “unknown” was coined during the construction of their first Big Cartel website. Granger and Vineer explains,” we needed to put in a name for the home page of the site so whilst we were still working that out, we just filled it with ‘unknown’. Since then, the duo has fallen in love with the name and has represented the unbranded minimalist items the label first sold.

Unknown first started selling plain sand-coloured distressed hoodies. To get this distressed look, “we spent all night hand distressing every single one cheese graters in our parent’s shed. We put them on our website at £25 each, made a post about them in the Facebook group The Basement and they sold out within 24 hours. We restocked the hoodies and ordered a couple more colourways which all flew, we soon decided to invest in some electric tools to do the distressing as the cheese graters were f****ing our hands up.”

After the successful drop, the two started planning their full collection which released in 2017 and showcased for the first time at Crepe city. To prepare for their upcoming released, they experimented with different fabrics that they found in a few trade shows in London. Since then, the Sherpa Hoodies, Velour Tracks and more developed earth tone basics have become the staple of Unknown UK.

With such a strong following and many influential artists wearing their pieces such as Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Yachty, Post Malone and many more, it is fair to say Unknown UK is on track to becoming a respected brand in the upcoming years.
