Recently, multiple MPs have been diagnosed with coronavirus, including the health minister Nadine Dorries on 11 March 2020, and more shockingly, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson on 27 March 2020.

It could be argued that this is now a very concerning issue, as every member in the government are now prone to the risk of being infected with the COVID-19 virus, and even though this illness now currently only have 6.36% death rate, which is relatively low compared to the 10% death rate of SARS, it could still have a devastating effect in UK politics and economy, as all the members of the government would need to be in self-isolation which greatly reduced the productivity of their work. This meant that less work could be proceeded in the government, thus resulting in the country to be less productive as the government is the brain of the country which makes sure that everything is working. In the short term, this could affect the businesses as they could be earning less, and in the long term, this could create economic and political instability in Britain.

However, if we look at the consequences of MPs having coronavirus, it could also be argued that the reason why the ministers and prime minister got coronavirus even after they were aware there is an outbreak is that they were still working on the frontline despite all the danger that it could have. This could be very pleasing as we could assume that they were working for the benefit of people, to make sure that all the parts of the society were functioning property, so people’s quality of life could be guaranteed.

Overall, I believe that we should all handle the coronavirus with a positive attitude while taking extra care of ourselves in quarantine, so less pressure would be brought onto the NHS. The pandemic would be less devastating if we all work together, which is the most important part.
