Procrastination is a concept beyond a simple definition. It can be that deep-rooted feeling of guilt that settles in the pit of your stomach or the pressure building across your temple, as you attempt to push and force the thought of work out of your mind. Motivation to work has been particularly difficult recently due to the current climate and I think everyone can agree. The uncertainty of the future and the unknown can be severely daunting. However, as a society, we must remain optimistic and help those around us, in this time of anxiety and uneasiness. Nevertheless, we should try and maintain a healthy routine, which means staying on top of our work and schedule. This can definitely be difficult however, I’m here to share some useful tips which might be able to help.

1.Create a schedule

By making a schedule on what you want to achieve, whether this be daily or weekly, creating a to-do list can be very useful. This means that when you come home from school or on weekend mornings, you can get straight to work and know exactly what to do. It does not take much effort to do this and can really maximise the time you waste.

2.Set deadlines

If you set deadlines for your work, you can make sure that you get your work done. Setting time limits can be very beneficial as it maximises time and ensures that you finish everything you need to do. Try and make an after-school schedule where you can put in time markers for when to start and finish a certain task.

3.Use incentives

It can definitely be difficult to get started with work however if you give yourself rewards to look forward to after your work can help you get your work done. For example, going on a walk or chocolate after you have completed a task. This can help motivate you to get work done and have something to look forward to.

4. Get rid of distractions

Make sure that when working that you keep your phone or anything that could distract you away to make sure that you complete all your work. This can really help as you can focus on your work and ensure you complete it to a good ability.

5. Get the hard stuff done first

By doing the difficult tasks first, then it makes it easier to do the rest of your work.

Although it can be difficult to start working, especially during the current crisis, it is essential to remain resolute and keep on top of your work. Try and use these tips to get work done and stay safe!
