For a long time, there has been a plan to build a super-mall in Croydon, "Westfield Croydon" was supposed to begin construction in early 2018.
Westfield Croydon is now under review due to Brexit and other reasons, so it might be cancelled but we will not know properly until of the end of this year. According to the Croydon Partnership website it is predicted to open at the earliest in 2023. Many shops and business that are in the Whitgift centre have already closed furthermore many flats for sale have put in their brochure that Westfield Croydon will open soon, but now I see many shops reopening because they have lost faith that Westfield Croydon will ever happen.
So, where will Westfield Croydon be?
Westfield Croydon will be where the "Central shopping center" and "Whitgift center" are. So, to carry the works the Whitgift center will have to be closed. the Central center will have some slight works but not as much as the Whitgift. These two malls will be one name 'Westfield Corydon'. If the plan happens this will be the 3rd Westfield in Greater London. Also, it is planned to be one of the biggest malls in the uk.
For now, let’s just wait and see.
