Buying Mother’s day presents is often a problem but one of my favourite shops Gandys, whose head office is in South Wimbledon. Gandys was created by two brothers, Rob and Paul who were taken out of school by their parents to travel in Asia. Unfortunately on Boxing Day 2004, along with their brother and sister, they lost their parents in the catastrophicTsunami; this inspired them to help other orphans and beganbuilding children’s homes. Rob and Paul founded Gandys in order to support their Orphans for Orphans foundation by donating 10% of their profits to helping underprivileged children that are affected by the Tsunami. The brothers began their mission with the objective to open an orphanage and help others orphans and promoting their message for people to live life to the fullest. Gandys vows that “each and every purchase makes a difference in the lives of underprivileged children around the world”.
In addition, their company ethics allow peace of mind for someone who worries where and who makes the clothes or bags. Against child labour, discrimination, harsh or inhumane treatment with working conditions which are safe and a full living wage is paid. Gandys is a truly fair and incredible company and their book “Tsunami Kids: Our Journey from Survival to Success” is a really inspiring read.
