What comes to mind when you recite the word pain? Is it falling over and bruising yourself or is it tripping over something and breaking bones? Generally, pain is extremely common whether it’s emotional or physical but it’s spread across all of those fighting against cancer; whether they survive or not. More often than not, cancer pain is caused by the lethal disease itself or the struggle to cope with chemotherapy; imagine having multiple drugs injected into your body at once. It would be like all your teachers constantly teaching you at once.

Similarly, children and the elderly are diagnosed with cancer. Most mutations within the DNA are received at birth but are not always inherited. For example, factors like smoking and drinking provoke the lifeless disease. Did you know that every drink of alcohol; excluding the fact whether it is large or a small volume, increases the chances of you contracting one or more of the known seven cancers embarked by alcohol. Why risk your life for a drink? Once you learn to drink, it’s very difficult to give it up as it is extremely addictive. Therefore, it is advised that you avoid liquor if you want to prosper in life. Simply put, it is a short cut to death and is one of the worst vices of man.

Getting back to the point, scientists have discovered that there are five main ways you can trigger cancer and they are by smoking and drinking, as discussed previously, excess body weight, physical inactivity and poor nutrition. There are issues we all may face at one point in our lives and can be prevented. The only obstacle is the fact that we are not prepared to. We all need to be aware of our responsibilities and saying, “ I will tomorrow” is useless. There is no such thing as tomorrow, it’s completely superficial. There was a past and we are living in the present. Tomorrow is just an excuse and we use it to get out of things. But, the lifestyle factors are not the only things that enforce cancer as there is exposure to radiation and age. Ageing cannot be prevented as it starts from our first breath of air into this world till the last. But the message is, appreciate those around you, whether they are suffering or not as we only live once.

To conclude, in the memory of those who died from the mortal disease and those who are still suffering, I publish this article today. And, to wrap things up, I remind you to nurture International Cancer Day which has just passed us on the 4th of February.
