Recently, I went to see Macbeth at the Barbican with the Royal Shakespeare company performing. Since I am studying Macbeth for GCSE English Literature, it was recommended to all the students and it didn’t disappoint. I went there with dome of my classmates and found that it was very enjoyable to see a more educational piece with my friends.

The creative take on the witches was my personal favourite touch to the play, since they were presented as three little girls and it gave the whole play an eerie theme. The modern costumes kept the play relevant and I found that the theatre was almost booked out, so it was popular and I could see why.

William Whatley (14) said it was "breathtaking and fills you with trepidation." I have to agree with this because despite it having long speeches and complicated wording, it still kept you on the edge of your seat.

This production of a Shakespeare play is nothing like I have ever seen before and Jake Sanders (14 agrees as he said it was "dramatic" as well as having a "sinister atmosphere" that I have never really encountered in another play.

Freddie Martin (14) said that "the play was interesting and enjoyable" and "the acting was great with extreme emotions being shown clearly and the use of the porter added a sense of comedy to the play before dragging it back to the darkness of murder.

This performance was really one to remember, with lasting impressions about the play that I had never thought of before. I truly agree with Jess Holmes (14) that it was "thoroughly enjoyable" and "I would recommend it to everybody."
