What is a Balanced diet :

This is a diet consisting of a variety of different types of food and providing adequate amounts of the nutrients necessary for good health.

The importance of a balanced diet:

A balanced diet is important because your organs and tissues need proper nutrition to work effectively. Without good nutrition, your body is more prone to disease, infection, fatigue, and poor performance

How to have a balanced diet:

  • Eat your 5 A DAY
  • Base meals on starchy foods like potatoes, bread, rice or pasta
  • Have some dairy or dairy alternatives (such as soya drinks)
  • Eat some beans, pulses, fish, eggs, meat and other protein
  • Choose unsaturated oils and spreads and eat in small amounts
  • drink plenty of fluids - WATER!

What are the benefits of a balanced diet:

Vitamins and minerals in the diet are vital to boost immunity and healthy development, A healthy diet can protect the human body against certain types of diseases, in particular noncommunicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, some types of cancer and skeletal conditions.

A well balanced diet provides energy you need active throughout the day. It also provides nutrients you need for growth and repair ( staying strong and healthy ).
