Brentford have no excuses for not showing their best in their 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Tuesday says Josh Dasilva.

The Bees failed to impose their usual possessional dominance on Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Griffin Park, with the visitors taking 67% of the ball.

Despite the humbling the Whites served Thomas Frank’s side, midfielder Dasilva felt there was a lot they could take from the contest.

“It was a good learning curve but overall we weren’t at our best,” he admitted.

“We weren’t great on the ball, and we played into their hands.

“The only positive is that we were not at our best and we are drawing with one of the best teams in the league, we can take a lot of confidence from that but it wasn’t our day overall.”

Pinpointing why he felt Brentford failed to live up to the high standards they set this season, Dasilva refused to blame the energy exerted in the 3-2 win against Middlesbrough on the weekend as a factor.

“This is the Championship, it’s what it’s about, there’s no excuse about energy, it’s a big game, everyone wants to win, we have to leave it all out there, we just didn’t perform well today.

“So, we’ll learn from it, and go into he next game.”

One player who Dasilva came up against was Kalvin Phillips, whose fair tackle ultimately ended the former Arsenal man’s game as he hobbled off on the hour after a collision with the Leeds midfielder.

“He loves a tackle, he went through me a few times,” he said.

“He’s got good distribution and the way they (Leeds) play it’s set up for him to dictate the game, he’s a good player.

“The way they go man for man, the intensity that they work at is obviously good, they’re a top side.

“But we’ll take it game by game, there’s so much to play for, we’ll rest and recover and then go into Birmingham full of confidence.”
