Brentford’s new signing Tariqe Fosu is eager to get started under Thomas Frank.

The attacker joined the Bees from Oxford United as part of the £3million deal along with Shandon Baptiste on transfer deadline day.

Despite being on Reading’s books coming through the ranks, the 24-year-old has spent the majority of his career in League One on a number of loan deals before extended stays at Colchester and then Charlton before Karl Robinson took his talents to the Kassam Stadium.

In the first half of this season Fosu notched eight goals and three assists as Oxford made an unexpected push for the play-off spots, and although admitting he has fond memories at Oxford, the opportunity to join Frank’s high-flying Bees was too good to turn down.

“I’m delighted,” he said.

“I’ve seen a lot of Brentford’s games, I like the way they play, their philosophy and the way they develop young players.

“To be honest the league position wasn’t a factor, it was the philosophy, the style of play and the manger that sold it to me.

“The Oxford boys are playing well, and it was gutting to leave, but at the same time, it’s football.

“We (Brentford) are in a good position and my aim is to just play a part.

“It’s been a crazy last few days but I’m excited by the new challenge.”

Surrey Comet:

Fosu feels the attacking mentality of the West London bodes well with his style of play.

“I’m a ball player, wide player, get forward, score goals and create goals,” he added.

“It was similar at Oxford and I’m ready to go.”

The Wandsworth born attacker revealed he sought the council of close friend and former Bee Ezri Konsa before making the switch

“Ezri gave it a goof report.

“I’m good mates with him from the Charlton days, he said it’s a great club and that I’d love it.

“He’s gone from here to the Premier League, so this is a good club to build something at, especially with the position they’re in.”

Fosu will be available for to make his debut in Saturday’s home clash with Middlesbrough.
