Serena Williams had hers and mixed doubles partner Andy Murray’s moniker on her mind following her fourth-round singles victory.

Sweeping past Carla Suarez Navarro 6-2,6-2, the seven-time winner of the Venus Rosewater Dish switched her attention to the mixed doubles event that has garnered more interest than usual.

Teaming up with home favourite Murray, she claimed she would be deciding their title.

"We haven't discussed it," she said.

"He did tweet Serandy, I was like, 'I like Murena'.

“My vote is still for Murena.

"It's great. I definitely have been really enjoying the mixed doubles, this pairing. Quite frankly, it's pretty cool. It's pretty awesome."

Surrey Comet:

Williams looked at ease on Court One from the off, showing little signs of the knee injury that has plagued her 2019.

Closing the first set in 31-minutes, followed by a double break in the second, the Spaniard was no match for Williams despite breaking back to love.

Williams victory set up a last eight tie with country-woman Alison Riske who caused the shock of the day as she put out No.1 seed Ashleigh Barty.

Ominously for Riske, Williams claimed she feels like she is nearing her best with each game.

“The rust is definitely wearing off,” she warned.

“Most of all I feel confident that I can actually move and I don’t have to go for winners as soon because I’m in pain.

“Now I can just play my game, hit shots and not have to worry about anything else.

“It’s good when your mind is clear and you can just play.”

Williams will be back at Wimbledon on Tuesday where she is will be in action not just in the singles, but as part of team ‘Murena’ in the mixed.
