Two fighters from an Epsom boxing club are seeking championship glory as they prepare to fight at Epsom Downs Racecourse in the Queensbury Boxing League.
Gauntlett Boxing Club's Jack Clarke and Hussein Mohungoo will be involved in light welterweight contests in the “Stand Up and Be Counted” promotion on May 11.
Mohungoo is fighting for the regional title, and head trainer Chris Gauntlett is confident the belt will be coming home with him by the end of the match.
Unbeaten Mohungoo, who is taking on Owen Tierney, drew in his last bout against Brighton boxer Wolff Griffiths but he says this has just motivated him to win even more.
“I’m very proud to be boxing for the Gauntlett Boxing Club,” he said. “We’re looking forward to bringing another belt back to the gym.”
Meanwhile, Clarke will be going up against Charlie Moore in his light welterweight contest, with strong ambitions for success this year.
“I’m feeling very fit and sharp and looking forward to putting on a good show,” he said. “I plan on having an active 2019 and aim to finish on a strong note, with either an eliminator or even a title shot.”
