Carshalton Athletic are continuing to revamp their squad for next season but fans will recognise the latest name to commit themselves to Colston Avenue.

The versatile Ola Sogbanmu, who was with the club four seasons ago, has decided to re-don Robins red after most recently appearing for Ryman Premier outfit Met Police.

And he is very much looking forward to getting ready for the forthcoming season ahead.

"I left Carshalton so I could go to university but, since completing my course, I’ve been getting back into my football,” said the 25-year old who has also played for Woking and Wingate and Finchley during his career.

“I feel good about coming back. I enjoyed my time here before, despite the fact we were battling against relegation, and I’ve been hearing only good things about Carshalton over the past season.

"I spoke to (manager) Peter Adeniyi and he said the club is chasing success for next season and I'm happy to be a part of that."

After a loan move turned permanent in 2012, Sogbanmu went on to score 10 goals in 58 appearances for Carshalton before heading off to Cambridgeshire to further his education.

But, although he played as both a striker and centre back during that tenure, Sogbanmu reveals he is now plying his trade in the middle of the park.

“I’ve been playing as a box-to-box midfielder since I’ve returned to the game, although I think I played every position except goalkeeper for the Met last season!” he added.

Carshalton Athletic's first pre-season game is at home against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday July 11th (KO TBC).
