FANS concerned with the hard work Kingstonian made of beating struggling Grays Athletic on Sunday need not fear, says boss Tommy Williams, because things went exactly according to plan.

Goals from Sam Page and Pelayo Pico Gomez – from the spot – saw Ks come from behind to win 2-1 at Kingsmeadow to kick off October in the Ryman Premier Division with a win.

This month sees Williams’ men play five of their seven league games at home and represents a good chance to build some much needed momentum into a stop-start campaign thus far.

Surrey Comet:

Winner: Pelayo Pico Gomez bagged the decisive goal from the spot on Sunday

“The aim on Sunday was to get three points and that is what we did,” said the manager.

“Sometimes in this league you have to dig in deep and get the points on the board.

“It didn’t matter how we did it on Sunday, it was all about the win.

He added: “Getting three points helps with our confidence and give us something to build on.

“We are looking more settled now after one or two players have left and that helps.”

Summer signing Tom Derry made his long-awaited league debut off the bench at the weekend after injury.

Williams said: “Tom played the last 15 or 20 minutes and had no reaction so we will look to build his game time.”

“He gives us extra options as he is a goal scorer and can play through the middle, but he can also play out wide where he can create opportunities.”
