Molesey Boat Club Junior Holly Dunford (17) has won gold at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Trakai, Lithuania.

Holly was competing in the Junior Womens Double Scull event, along with her GB teammate Zoe Adamson from Gloucester Hartpury.

The duo had won every round of the regatta and topped it off with a great performance in the final. They sat third at halfway, but paced their effort superbly to move ahead in the third quarter and hold it to the line ahead of a fast finishing German crew.

Holly becomes Molesey's first ever Junior World Champion and it is the first time the GB Junior Team have ever won the Junior Women's Double event.

This impressive result comes after three further Molesey Juniors won 6 gold medals at the recent Coupe de la Jeunesse (European) championships held in Hazewinkel, Belgium. Matt Hardy (18), Theo Darlow (17) and Scott Cockle (17), competing in the Junior Mens Four and Junior Mens Coxed Four respectively, won gold in both the Saturday and Sunday events to become double European Champions.

All four athletes train with the Junior Squad at Molesey Boat Club and were selected for the GB crews after a 10 month trial process.
