An Epsom mum has been running 3.65 km every day for a year in a bid to raise money

for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Aileen Sellers, a part time time primary school teacher from Epsom, took on the 365 Roses Challenge in 2017 and has raised £1,010 by running every day for a year.

Cystic fibrosis is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. Mrs Seller said her best friend’s daughter lives with the condition.

Due to complete the challenge on September 13, Mrs Sellers said she will not keep the everyday commitment after the challenge is over despite being a keen runner.

The Epsom teacher said the everyday commitment was difficult. “I have found the physical challenge difficult but more than that the challenge has been squeezing it into a busy life.

She added: “I have found myself running at 5:30am in -7° in the winter, in over 40° in Spain this summer, with coughs and colds and round and round my local streets in the dark, late on in the evening”.

Mrs Sellers said she hopes completing the challenge will help the the trust find a cure. “I felt that if I could raise some money by making a commitment every day, I may make a difference.”
