A flood alert is no longer in place for the River Mole which runs through Leatherhead.
At 7.45am the river level stood at 1.85 metres in Leatherhead, down from 2.6 metres at 3.30pm yesterday afternoon.
Flooding becomes possible at 2.4 metres and low lying fields around Thorncroft Drive were under water yesterday.
The flood alert, which is a general early notification of possible flooding, was issued when the river started to rise following heavy rain on Sunday.
It provoked concern among last winter’s flood victims and horses were moved from stables in Thorncroft Drive to higher ground as a precaution.
Yesterday Andrea Norbury, owner of Thorncroft Stables, said their fields had flooded, adding: “I’m scared we’re going to have a really rubbish winter like last year."
The Met Office said its latest three-month outlook suggests an "increased risk of milder and wetter than average conditions" between November and January.
