A group of lucky pupils from Ewell Castle School recently returned from a once in a life time football training tour in Tenerife.

The tour was organised by Stephen Casey, the head of the school sports department, in conjunction with specialist sports tour provider Inspiresport. The tour consisted of 30 boys, all aged between 13 and 18.

The tour was not only a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their football skills, but it was also an educational excursion that fitted in perfectly as an end of season training trip. The school specifically chose Tenerife because of the world class training camp, which has played host to Olympic athletes and Premier football clubs such as Newcastle, and because the climate is ideal for outdoor sports.

Mr Casey said “The quality of travel was excellent and there was a good level of professionalism from the Inspiresport head office – planning the trip was pain free and the overall experience was fantastic”.

He continued “the coaching staff were really friendly and the quality of the coaching could not be faulted, their teaching abilities were excellent and the pupils learnt a lot from them”.

The pupils received high quality training from some of Spain’s finest footballing stars, got to stay in high quality accommodation, and played against local opposition.

“The tour exceeded my expectations” said Mr Casey, “the in-resort representative from Inspiresport, Ian, was fantastic, a real gent and exceptionally well organised. He worked very hard for us throughout the whole time we were there and as a result the quality of the whole experience was enhanced”.

Commercial Director of Inspiresport, Tom Shorey, said “I am really pleased that the pupils at Ewell Castle School had such a great trip. The level of coaching in this training camp is second to none and I am glad that they were able to take advantage of such a fantastic opportunity”.

The team were also able to go on a few exciting excursions. Mr Casey said “the excursions were excellent, everything from the organisation and staff management to the tour itinerary and quality of guides was fantastic and I would definitely recommend this tour to fellow teachers.
