Students from Blenheim High School have returned to their lessons this week following their outstanding successful performances of Phantom of the Opera at the Secombe Centre in Sutton.

More than 160 students took part in the production either on stage, in the orchestra or behind the scenes. Tackling such an iconic show was never going to be easy but the students gave four performances over three days, each played to a capacity audience.

The ‘Really Useful Group’ granted Blenheim a special licence to perform ‘Phantom of the Opera’ in a public theatre – the first school in the country to ever be given this privilege.

The enthusiastic reaction of a member of the audience sums it up.

'…. the acting and singing was absolutely, astoundingly fantastic. We had to remind ourselves that it was a school production'.

Ms Fantham, Headteacher of Blenheim, said: ‘Every year I find it difficult to imagine that the school production can be better than the year before and every year it surpasses all of my expectations! The staff and students involved in the production are just amazing. I am so proud of all they have achieved in putting on such stunning performances of this challenging, iconic and popular show. They are the embodiment of our school motto, ‘Believe and Achieve’.
