South West Trains has confirmed it will run a full service during the Olympic Games, despite an overtime ban announced by the RMT union.
The RMT announced an overtime and rest day ban effective between 12.01am on Friday, July 27, and 11.59pm hours on Sunday, August 12.
A pay increase of 4.75 per cent was agreed by the union four months ago, which covered arrangements for the Games, but the union wanted a further Olympics bonus.
Tim Shoveller, managing director of South West Trains, said: “It is disappointing the RMT seems intent on trying to disrupt services at such an important time for our customers and the country.
“Its attempts to renege on the deal it agreed have gone down badly with the public and RMT members also voted against strike action over this issue.
“Despite the RMT action, we can confirm we will be running a full service for our passengers during the Games so they can get to and from the London 2012 events.”
