Life behind the scenes at Kingston’s own non-league football club has been captured through a lens by the head coach’s son.

Film maker Adam Tyler, 24, son of assistant coach and Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler, spent two years shooting Kingsmeadow.

The 30-minute fly-on-the wall documentary captures the build-up to an evening kick off as Ks manager Alan Dowson picks the team.

But it is intended as a day in the lifestyle piece celebrating the community spirit of non-league football.

The scenes are meant to be a stark comparison to the excesses of the glamorous Premiership which the director said risked turning people away from the game, and include footage shot by Scratchmark Films at other clubs.

Mr Tyler said: “Kingsmeadow is a half-hour documentary celebrating non league football across the UK.

“I was inspired by a combination of going to Kingstonian, my local team, and the incredible unique warmth of the atmosphere around that world.

“It is a small world rather than Premier League Clubs and you just start to really feel part of a big family very quickly.”

Adam Tyler has known manager Alan Dowson since he was a teenager being coached by him at Cobham and came to Ks when his father got involved two and a half years ago.

During the film, Dowson delivers a passionate half-time team talk to the Ks players in a heated dressing room atmosphere, Martin Tyler can be seen pacing back and forth and delivering injury news while other club members also play their parts.

Fans will get a chance to see footage from the match as well.

Insiders at the club have given favourable responses to seeing themselves on screen.

The FA said: “A beautiful film for the beautiful game – captures the soul of football.”

Kingsmeadow will be on ESPN on Wednesday, March 7, at 6.30pm before former non-league Stevenage take on Premiership high-flyers Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.
