Six more top name stores have signed up to open outlets in Croydon's newest shopping mall Centrale, writes Siobhan Lismore.

First out of the blocks is Nike, which will be opening its first independent sports wear store in Croydon. Other signings include Boots, which will be taking a 4,000 sq ft store, and model enthusiasts will be able to pick up all the latest kits and equipment at the new ModelZone store. Designer name fashions will be available from mens' retailer Base and Sunglass Hut.

Starbucks will be opening a new branch inside the mall to provide shoppers with much-needed refreshment. Retailers are currently fitting out their stores in preparation for the opening of Centrale's inner malls next month.

The first phase of the project was completed last summer with the arrival of high street chains Next, Zara and Aldo.

Centre manager David Parham said: "We are especially pleased to have Nike on board as it is another international brand that will add even greater style to our well established list of high profile fashion and lifestyle retailers."

Centrale's anchor store House of Fraser is due to open in September.
