A new environmental film set in a future world which has been ravaged by climate change will have its premiere at Kingston Odeon on Sunday.
Makers of The Age of Stupid, starring Pete Postlethwaite, wanted the launch of the film to have a people’s premiere so it will be shown in 60 cinemas, including Kingston, on March 15.
The premiere will also feature the launch of a new book by Kingston author Shaun Chamberlin.
He is a founding member of environmental group Transition Town Kingston (TTK) and has now compiled a book, The Transition Timeline.
The book provides an update on climate change and peak oil, the impact of ignoring the threat in the coming years and what action can be taken to ensure a sustainable future.
Doors for the premiere open at 5.15pm and Hilary Gander, a Kingston environmental campaigner will be give a brief talk before the film starts about her work with the action group Campaign against Climate Change.
Tickets for the premiere cost £10 and can be ordered from ageofstupid.net
