A newborn Kirk’s dik-dik named Pistachio has joined the animal family at Chessington World of Adventures Zoo.
Pistachio was born at the end of March, just ahead of Easter, to her parents Farfalle and Macaroon.
The young antelope’s name is inspired by the Dubai pistachio chocolate bar, which is currently a popular treat.
At just three weeks old, Pistachio is already settling into her new home in the Wanyama Village and Reserve area of the zoo.
Kirk’s dik-diks are one of the world’s smallest antelope species, only weighing up to 7kg when fully grown.
They come from Eastern and South-Western Africa and are named for the "dik-dik" sound they make when alarmed in the wild.
Zookeepers at Chessington World of Adventures are carefully watching over the new arrival to make sure she adapts well to her surroundings.
Visitors have a chance to see Pistachio alongside her parents during the Easter holidays.
Rebecca Apperley, zookeeper at Chessington World of Adventures, said: "Our team are absolutely thrilled to welcome baby Pistachio to our wildlife family here at Chessington.
"At just three weeks old, Pistachio is already settling in to our Wanyama Village and Reserve area and captivating the hearts of the zoo's guests and keepers alike.
"We can’t wait for visitors to meet her and learn more about these wonderful creatures."
The zoo hopes Pistachio will help raise awareness about this unusual species and encourage visitors to learn more about wildlife conservation.
