Nestled under a beautiful church on the banks of the River Thames is where you will find Thomas’s Kindergarten, founded in 1971 by Joanna Thomas. Thomas’s welcomes young learners between the ages of 2½-4, helping them embark on their journey of explorative learning through purposeful play and an enquiry-based curriculum designed to ignite curiosity, cherish creativity and celebrate kindness.

Thomas’s ensures children are exposed to a curriculum as rich as it is diverse, giving them opportunities to challenge themselves and develop confidence, social skills and a love for learning. None of this could be accomplished without Thomas’s dedicated team of staff, who we meet today.

Miss Lucy, Head of Thomas’s Kindergarten Miss Lucy, Head of Thomas’s Kindergarten (Image: Thomas’s Kindergarten) Miss Lucy, Head of Thomas’s Kindergarten says: “I've been with Thomas's for five years and this is my third year as head. I have worked in primary schools for 17 years and love working with younger children - humans in the rawest form!”

Fun fact: Miss Lucy loves nature and isn’t afraid of spiders or any creepy crawlies (although she used to be!).

(Image: Thomas’s Kindergarten) Miss Angela, Deputy Head, has been with Thomas's for three years now and leads the Upper Kindergarten team (3–4-year-olds). Angela loves working with nursery aged children and also runs their famous cooking class.

Fun fact: Miss Angela is an amazing cook, but she doesn’t realise it!

(Image: Thomas’s Kindergarten) Miss Filipa is an Upper Kindergarten teacher who has been with Thomas's for six years. She works with their older children and loves arts and crafts. She also makes her famous Portuguese Pao Por Deus with the children at Halloween, which is a type of sweet bread, studded with dried fruit; everyone looks forward to that!

Fun fact: Miss Filipa makes beautiful jewellery as a hobby.

Miss Sandra is a Lower Kindergarten teacher (2–3-year-olds). Sandra has been working with children for many years and has lots of experience of working within schools and nurseries, she even ran her own childminding business for years before joining Thomas's two years ago. Sandra can do anything and loves teaching the children through their play.

Fun fact: Miss Sandra has Portuguese heritage and speaks in Portuguese with Miss Filipa.

(Image: Thomas’s Kindergarten)Miss Sonia is also a Lower Kindergarten teacher. Sonia has been with Thomas's for 16 years and initially worked at the original Thomas's Kindergarten in Pimlico - where it all began! Sonia is kind, loving and forms wonderful relationships with both the children and their families. You can't walk down the street with her without being mobbed by families who love her!

Fun fact: Miss Sonia loves travelling and often visits the Caribbean.

Miss Abigail is another Lower Kindergarten teacher who has a wealth of experience of working with young children. She has worked in schools, nurseries and as a nanny. There isn't much Abigail doesn't know about young children and her love of working with them is abundant.

Fun fact: Miss Abigail is about to complete Level 5 Early Years leadership training, which means she will be able to run an Early Years setting herself!
