Poundland in Bolton is back open after a temporary closure due to a water leak.

The store on Deansgate closed on Thursday evening stating 'unplanned maintenance' on a notice on the door.

Later it was confirmed there had been a water leak but staff were working hard to reopen the store.

The statement on the door said: “Please accept our apologies as our store is temporarily closed due to unplanned maintenance.”

The shop has now reopened as normal.

Poundland redirected customers to the chain's nearest store on Newport Street, opposite Victoria Square.

A spokesperson for Poundland confirmed that the store had a small water leak on Thursday evening.

They praised staff for working hard yesterday to get the store back into shape.

The store reopened on Saturday morning.

Following the closure of Wilko in September last year, Poundland moved into the same unit so that it had a bigger space to the shop on Victoria Square.

Poundland said at the time: “We’re moving at pace because we know how important opening these stores are to local communities.

"While stores will get more extensive refits in next year, we’re proud that another nine former Wilko stores will begin their Poundland journeys this coming weekend.”

Poundland continues to prioritise former Wilko colleagues for roles and encourage them to follow Poundland’s posts on LinkedIn or visit www.poundlandcareers.co.uk to find details of open roles and how to apply for them.
