The Traitors is returning to the BBC for its second series this January, as 22 contestants battle it out to win £120k.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the reality game sees 22 strangers come together in a remote Scottish castle as they try to guess which three players are traitors before all the faithfuls are 'murdered'.

The game show became a surprise hit as viewers were captivated by the drama and tense debates. It saw applications for the second series hit above 100,000 compared to the first series' 3,000.

Contestants are hand-picked from across the UK, and for the 2024 addition, three Londoners are hoping to win The Traitors.

Ash

Events Coordinator Ash from Walthamstow said she applied for the show after admitting she was "looking for an adventure".

Sharing: "I'm happy where I am, I'm happy with the way my life is but I do need a little bit of an adventure."

Speaking about whether she wants to be a traitor, Ash said that she would "be quite happy" adding that she already has her gameplan prepared:

"It's a game, and if I need to wipe the floor with you to win, then that's exactly what I'll do. That sounds so horrible! I don’t mean to be horrible, but you know, it's a game and I'm playing to win."

Ash added that if she were to win the prize money, she would get on the property ladder: "This would literally be my only chance to get on to that property ladder. I don't have what a lot of people have, I don't have a family to fall back on, I don't have anybody to give me anything.

"I don't have anything to inherit. I don't want to be renting when I'm 60 years old, renting with housemates... although that would still be kind of fun."

Jasmine

26-year-old Jasmine works as a Sales Executive and said she applied after loving the first series: "I’m very personable, and people tend to want to befriend me a lot which is how you get people on your side. It’s a game of making allies, isn't it? You don’t want people to vote you out."

Sharing how far she'll go to win if she is chosen as a Traitor, Jasmine said: "I don’t think there’s anything I wouldn’t do. If I have to eliminate someone, if I have to steal the big pot of money, that’s absolutely fine."

Jasmine added that if she were to win, she would use the money to help her parents: "I would definitely help my parents. We went through some tough financial times, and I would just love to be able to pay off their mortgage and do up their house to the standard that they’d want to live in forever because I think that will be the home that my mum and dad retire in."

Zack

Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Zack applied because he is "very good at reading people", adding: "Fundamentally it’s a bit of a selfish sort of reason, I think that I could win it if I’m a Faithful, I’ve already said that I do not want to be a Traitor at all because I’m never going to win."

Sharing what he might be like as a Tratitor, Zack said: "I think I'd be cutthroat."

He added: "I’d like to think I could take out emotion. It makes me sound like a really horrible person but I’m a compassionate person."

The Traitors returns on BBC One on Wednesday, January 3 at 9pm.
