Armed police shot dead an out-of-control pet dog after they failed to stun it with a Taser gun on Tuesday, June 17.
Officers were called to Whitehorse Road at about 11pm in relation to a dangerous dog.
The Staffordshire bull terrier, owned by a 13-year-old boy and had been described as "aggressive" and a "threat to the public" by police, bit two officers as they tried to detain it.
A 50,000-volt stun gun failed to subdue the dog and so police called in an expert marksman from the Trojan team, who shot the animal dead.
The 13-year-old was arrested for possession of a dangerous dog in a public place and has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
