Upgrades to a pedestrian crossing near a busy A-road in New Denham could see two parking spaces outside a parade of shops removed.

The crossing, which is outside the Day 1 convenience store on the A4020 Oxford Road, will be made bigger and more accessible, but it means two parking spaces outside the shopping parade will have to be removed.

While there is a crossing already on the A4020, there is no safe way to get from there to the shops safely.

Buckinghamshire Council is planning to add a crossing point outside the front of the shop to the island between the shops and the side of the A4020.

The upgrade comes after discussion with councillors at Buckinghamshire Council and also Denham Parish Council.

Bucks Free Press:

Bucks Council explained: "As part of upgrading this crossing we are proposing to install a build out with an uncontrolled crossing point outside the ‘Day 1 Local Express Convenience Store’ as there is currently no crossing facility from the dividing island to the shopping parade.

"The construction of the proposed build out will remove two existing vehicle parking bays outside the convenience store. However, the proposals include the introduction a single motorcycle bay adjacent to the build out.

"The proposals are being introduced to improve accessibility and create a safer environment for pedestrians and road users."

The councilw ants to hear the views of those who live in the area or use the road regularly.
