A teenager has been charged with several offences after a woman in her 50s was raped at a churchyard in Kingston.

On Saturday, July 23, police received a report that a rape had occurred in a churchyard in Market Place.

A 17-year-old was charged today with one count of rape, one count of robbery, one count of possession of a Class B drug and two counts of fraud.

He will appear in custody today at Statford Magistrates' Court on the same day.

Kingston officers are supporting a woman aged in her 50s.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Detectives investigating an allegation of rape in Kingston have charged a teenager.

"The 17-year-old was charged on Thursday, 28 July, with one count of rape, one count of robbery, one count of possession of a Class B drug and two counts of fraud.

"He will appear in custody at Stratford Magistrates' Court on the same day.

"On the morning of Saturday, 23 July, police received an allegation of rape that was reported to have occurred in a churchyard in Market Place, Kingston Officers continue to provide support to a woman aged in her 50s."
