Surrey Police has released pictures of a "horrifying" crash which happened on the A3 this morning (Tuesday).
The driver, travelling near to Claygate in Esher, lost control of his car on a standing body of water and aquaplaned off the road into a ditch.
Police said "miraculously" he only received minor injuries - but that it "easily" could have been a different story.
Officers pleaded with the public to take extra care when driving on wet roads or in rainy weather.
They added that aquaplanning is a "very real" risk and can have "fatal" consequences.
