A popular burger takeaway has been forced to shut temporarily while restaurants in the building work with the fire brigade to make sure they are fire safe.

Fat Joe’s, on the A40 London Road in Wooburn Moor, has apologised to its regular customers for having to close until the issues are sorted out.

On its Facebook page, it blamed an “amenity issue”, but a source told the Bucks Free Press it had been asked to shut by a fire safety inspector.

The burger takeaway is based in the same building as the Bombay Grill and Salad restaurant and the 6ix Lounge, a shisha bar.

The building, which is on the corner of the A40 and Watery Lane, used to be the Mother Redcap pub before it was turned into a string of Indian restaurants.

Fat Joe’s said they were “sorry to our regular customers” and would “try to open as soon as we can”.

They said: “Due to an amenity issue created by Bombay Grill in our building, Fat Joe’s has been forced to close through no fault of our own.

“We are hoping to be able to open as soon as the problem has been resolved.”

A Bucks Fire and Rescue spokesman could only provide limited information while the issue was ongoing.

They said: “Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service fire safety inspectors are currently liaising with the responsible person and business owners associated with this location, in order to support the businesses and ensure fire safety compliance is met and maintained.”

It is not clear when the restaurant might reopen. A check on JustEat at around 8pm on Monday night revealed that Fat Joe's is "not taking orders right now".
