A man was seen running in a High Wycombe street with a shotgun before gunshots were heard.

Police swooped on Holmers Farm Way at around 6.45pm on Saturday, June 19, after panicked residents saw a man with a weapon.

They then heard a sound which they said sounded like a gunshot.

When police arrived, they search the area and found a shotgun, which was taken to High Wycombe police station.

No one has been arrested and there were no reports of anyone being injured.

Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Gill Fox, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Following the report received on Saturday evening, officers from the Joint Operations Unit responded, alongside response officers, and an area search commenced.

“During this search, we located and recovered a firearm, which has now been made safe and is off the streets.

“Although no arrests have been made in connection with this incident, our enquiries are ongoing, and there is a continued increased police presence in the area at this time.

“We believe from our early enquiries that this is an isolated incident and believe it to be linked to groups known to each other, and so we do not believe there is any wider threat to the local community.

“Although I understand the significant concern that incidents such as this will cause in the local community, I would like to reassure the public that we are progressing our investigation, making house to house enquiries, reviewing CCTV and seeking to identify the offender.

“With this in mind, I would appeal to anybody who has any information that can help this investigation to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police, either by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43210269972.

“I would like to re-iterate, we have no reports of anybody being injured as a result of this incident, and are working around the clock to ascertain the circumstances and to identify the offender.

“I would also appeal to anybody in the local area who has CCTV or who was driving in the vicinity and has dash-cam footage to please check this and get in touch if it has captured anything that can assist this investigation.”
