A driver who crashed into a parked car and fled in Watford has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds.

Lacey Gibson had been driving her Ford Fiesta in Newhouse Crescent when she collided with a stationary car, which then hit another vehicle beside it.

The 21-year-old from Watford then fled before later being tracked down by police.

She appeared at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 14, where she pleaded guilty to failing to stop after a road accident.

The court heard how officers were called to Newhouse Crescent on November 14 last year following reports of a crash.

On arrival, police found three vehicles had been involved, including the Ford Fiesta belonging to Gibson, a Hyundai and a Kia.

The Fiesta had been driven along Newhouse Crescent in the direction of Horseshoe Lane when it collided with the Hyundai, which had been stationary.

The impact from the collision caused the car to then go into a parked Kia.

The Fiesta, which was left stranded in the middle of the road after the impact, had been significantly damaged although there were no occupants when police arrived.

The court was told that witnesses saw three females had made off.

Paramedics had also handed police a purse with a driving licence belonging to the defendant, who was later found at her address.

Christopher Hartneck, defending, said Gibson had waited at the scene for around five minutes before leaving and made full admissions to police following the incident.

Gibson, Bucknalls Close, was fined £300, with costs amounting the total to £419.

Her licence was also endorsed with seven penalty points.
