Plans to build five new properties in place of several disused commercial buildings in Chesham have been given the green light.

Developers will knock down the buildings in Bunkers Yard, Hivings Hill, which were used as workshops for carpentry firms in the past, but are now “beyond repair” and in need of replacement.

A design and access statement said: “The site is in disrepair and is vacant.

“Due to the unviable business and costs associated with replacing what currently exists, a residential scheme designed to work with the contours of the site, and in keeping with the character, would be the most appropriate use of the land.”

They want to build three terraced houses on the front of the site and two terraced houses at the back.

The driveway and forecourts will provide parking for two cars for each house, as well as space for turning, and the gardens will be “comparable with similar dwellings in the area”.

The plans were given the go-ahead last week.
