A NORTH Yorkshire business has launched a limited-edition product in aid of a charity which supports children with Down syndrome.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil in Thixendale has joined forces with Masons of Yorkshire, Bedale, to create a Lemon and Lavender Gin Dressing.

From each sale, 35p will be donated to Downright Special, which supports families and professionals with the care and education of children with Down syndrome.

The dressing is available from farm shops, delis and independent retailers.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's production manager Mathew Dixon said: “It’s great to collaborate with other local producers, even better when we can raise money for an excellent charity at the same time.

"We have raised over £4,000 for Downright Special and we’re hoping sales of this delicious dressing will help to raise even more money."

“Downright Special receives no funding from statutory agencies like the local authority or NHS, so we’re proud to support them and help them to build a better future for children with Down syndrome in Hull and East Yorkshire.”

People can also donate via a Virgin Money Giving Page which sends every donation directly to Downright Special.

Downright Special was formed by a group of parents who set out to provide support to each other and any other parents who had children with Down syndrome.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by the Palmer family on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range of oils, dressings and mayonnaise based on their award-winning Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil that is pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.
