A man has been charged in connection with an ongoing murder investigation  after a man was struck by a car outside M&S in Walton-on-Thames.

Shaan Mir, of Arlington Lodge in Weybridge, has been charged with murder and attempted murder after being arrested on Thursday (April 22). 

Police were called to Church Street around 2.15pm to reports that an altercation had taken place between a group of men.

Police said one of the men then got into his car, a white 1 series BMW, and reportedly drove at two of the other men in the group.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but despite their best efforts, the victim named as Matthew Tester, 49, locally known as Tik, died at the scene.

The second victim, also in his 40s, received hospital treatment and is recovering from serious injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector David Springett who is leading the investigation said: “This is an extremely difficult time for Tik’s family and I would ask that their privacy is respected to allow them to grieve in peace.”

Shaan Mir is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
