Organisers of a food festival speak on their hopes for an event to take place this year, after their 2020 festival was cancelled due to Covid-19.

FeastyFest had adapted their festival, which was set to take place in Cheam Park, to better suit coronavirus guidelines.

But despite their effort’s last year, organisers said they were "forced to cancel" and had to postpone the event to September 12, 2021.

FeastyFest say they are working hard to ensure that the event can go ahead - with people’s safety being at the "fore of their minds."

Ticketholders can expect a bigger line up of entertainment than "ever before"- with live music, cooking demonstrations and “bags of children’s entertainment.”

The festival is encouraging families to celebrate Sutton's food produce and street food traders to help small businesses recover following months of hardship.

Organisers have since admitted that they had "personally lost thousands" due to the pandemic.

A spokesperson for FeastyFest said: "We were heartbroken last year when our plans were so sadly cancelled but are determined to come back stronger than ever!

"All of the amazing people who make our event so special – from our food producers to our entertainers, volunteers and foodie experts – are raring to go!

"After 12 months of essentially being trapped in our homes we couldn’t need this celebration of local food more.”

Organisers reported that Cheam Park has the capacity to allow for "plenty of social-distancing."

It has also been confirmed that there will be increased queuing lanes, free water, free face masks and double the number of toilets.

The event will include:

• 100 food producers

• Cooking demonstrations

• 25 street-food traders

• Live Music on the main stage all day

• Wine Tastings and Pairings

• Kids Entertainment

Organisers for the not-for-profit event have also announced plans to support One Step at A Time, a fantastic organisation set up to support families with special needs children.

Due to new, reduced capacities, tickets are extremely limited this year and have been priced at £9 for an adult or £5.50 for a child in advance (plus booking fees.)

People are being advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
