A man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a truck in Sunbury.

The crash happened on the A316 in Sunbury "towards Kingston and Vicarage Road" on Wednesday (November 25), Surrey Police said.

Emergency first responders including paramedics and ambulance crews rushed to the scene of the crash, which happened just near a roundabout in the area just before 1pm.

The man involved, a pedestrian, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Significant road closures were put in place by the authorities while the man was treated.

They have since been lifted.

Police launched an investigation into what happened in the wake of the crash.

A spokesperson for Surrey Police, appealing for information, said:

"We’re appealing for witnesses after a collision between a truck and a pedestrian in Sunbury-on-Thames.

"Officers were called to the scene just before 1pm where a man was being treated by paramedics, he has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
