A family are raffling off their south London home for just £2.50 after a stroke left their grandmother struggling to live there.

Ida Spinola, 87, suffered a stroke in 2017, leaving her unable to use the upstairs bathrooms and struggling to move around the house.

So the Spinola family have decided to sell their five-bedroom 1930's family home, located in Streatham, south east London.

But instead of selling the house the conventional way, the house is to be raffled off on raffle site Raffall.

This means one lucky winner will walk away with the entire house for just the cost of a £2.50 ticket.

Surrey Comet:

The family said: "After being inspired by another house prize competition on this site, we thought we would give one lucky winner the chance to make their dream come true and own a property in London."

The decision to sell comes as a result of a 2017 stroke which left grandmother Ida in a coma for three months.

No unable to reach the upper floors and bathrooms, Ida's granddaughter Michele indicated they wanted to sell the house so they can give the 87-year-old a shower.

Surrey Comet:

Michelle said the situation was a win-win, allowing someone to win the house for £2.50, as well as allowing to to "move on with our lives."

The raffle summary describes the property as a "well presented five bedroom 1930's family home" which has been extended into the loft and to the rear, and is "finished to a high standard throughout."
