An application has been submitted to remove trees which are damaging a nearby primary schools.

The Leylandi trees on The Square, Tillingham are believed to be damaging Sr Nicholas, Church of England Primary School.

To determine the application, specialists at Maldon District Council will need to consider the amenity value of the trees and the impact of the works on the character of the Conservation Area.

Photographs show the trees overhanging areas of the schools, which is the cause of concern.

Another photo shows cracks in the walls of the primary school, which is believed to be caused by the trees.

The council have two options, to either allow the proposed works to proceed, or in cases where they would harm trees, they would serve a Tress Preservation Order.

A decision will be made within the next six weeks.

Any views that you wish to express concerning the application should be made in writing and emailed to dc.planning@maldon.gov.uk within 28 days.
