TV star Stephen Mulhern filmed part of his hit primetime TV show In For A Penny near the Link Centre.

Surprised shoppers saw the celebrity strolling through the car park of the West Swindon Asda superstore earlier this week.

The veteran gameshow presenter wore a Christmas jumper while out and about, prompting speculation that the footage was for a festive special.

An ITV spokeswoman told the Adver that the series is filming an episode in a nearby city but needed an ice rink for one of the games and the nearest available facility was right here in Swindon.

An air date for the episode has not yet been confirmed.

In For A Penny started as a segment on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway before spinning off into its own show.

The series sees Catchphrase presenter Mulhern wandering the streets of towns and cities across the UK and giving unsuspecting members of the public challenges to complete.

The challenges include filling cars with an exact amount of fuel and guessing the prices of items on a conveyor belt.

Each show ends with a grand finale game where people risk their dignity in silly stunts to be in with a chance of winning £1,000.
