A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries and a portion of the M25 closed this morning (Tuesday, October 20) after a multi-vehicle crash near Tadworth in Surrey.
The collision took place between junctions 9 and 8 on the M25 motorway close to Walton on the Hill, just before 3.30am, East of Leatherhead.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, including paramedics, Surrey Fire and Rescue, Surrey Police and Highways England.
Police said in a statement around 5.30am that the crash involved a heavy goods vehicle, an ambulance and a black BMW.

A spokesperson for the police, who are now appealing for information about what happened, added:
"The driver of the car, a black BMW, suffered serious leg injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
"The occupants of the other vehicles were unharmed during the collision."
They meanwhile confirmed that the section of the road where the crash took place would stay closed "into rush hour" as emergency services continued their work:
"The anticlockwise M25 has been closed between junction 10 and junction 8, and will remain closed for at least three hours (into the rush hour) while the vehicles are recovered, the scene is cleared and collision investigation officers carry out their work. Surrey Fire and Rescue service, and Highways England are assisting."

Highways England said of the crash:
"The M25 is closed anti-clockwise between J10 and J8 due to a collision near Leatherhead.
"Surrey Police and emergency services are at scene."
They also offered instructions to those diverted by the road closure:
"Traffic travelling anti-clockwise should follow the 'hollow square' diversion symbol and exit the M25 at J10 (Wisley Interchange). Take the 1st exit from the roundabout onto the A3 towards London. Continue along the A3 to Tolworth, taking the 3rd exit at Tolworth Interchange onto A240 towards Reigate.
"Continue onto the A24 at Organ junction. At the A24 Ewell By-pass roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A240 towards Reigate.
"At A240/A217 'Burgh Heath' junction, turn right at the traffic signals onto the A217 towards Reigate. Continue along the A217 to the M25 and re-join at J8 (Reigate Hill Interchange)."
Police meanwhile urged anyone with information or footage taken near the area around the time of the crash to contact them, in particular anything that could show "the manner of driving of the vehicles on dash cam or helmet cam between 3.15 and 3.30 this morning".
