Two new additions open their doors in The Lanes, Brighton

Silk lingerie designer Ayten Gasson and urban contemporary art gallery Paxton+Glew have become the newest additions to the shopping hotspot.

Both sites have opened in Hanningtons Lane, the newest feature of The Lanes which was opened in April 2019.

Designer Ayten Gasson balances “luxurious design with ethical manufacturing, quality construction” and the championing of small, local suppliers.

She is known for her sustainable approach to production, such as the use of upcycled vintage laces in her nightwear designs.

Ayten said: “I am so delighted with the location and set up of my new store.

“It allows for more studio and display space and there is a real community of like-minded designers, artists, entrepreneurs and independents at Hanningtons Lane.

“We are located opposite fellow designer Sophie Darling and close to Pod, Abi-K, Finisterre and Little Darlings Closet – my assistant and I look forward to welcoming you (customers) very soon.”

Paxton+Glew, named after its owners Emily Paxton and Pam Glew, opened last month.

The pair aim to curate immersive exhibitions featuring work from both emerging and established contemporary artists for the enjoyment of their visitors.

Their first exhibition, Vitamin Sea, has proved popular with art-lovers in Brighton and Hove.

It provides a celebration of the urban art scene, displaying the work of more than 30 artists from across the world who were each invited to paint and remodel a 1:16 scale beach hut in their own inimitable way.

The site is now showing its second exhibition, Haunted House, until November 9.
