A MAN has been arrested following a report of inappropriate behaviour towards women in shops.
Sussex Police were called to South Street in Chichester at 5.40pm on Thursday and detained a 37-year-old on suspicion of sexual assault.
Following the arrest, the force issued a statement which asked people not to speculate or report alleged offences on social media.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "Police responded to a report of a man behaving inappropriately to women in shops in South Street on Thursday.
"A 37-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has since been released on conditional bail until November 17 while further enquiries continue.
"In the meantime, we would urge the public against speculating or reporting alleged offences on social media.
"If you have any information which could assist our investigation, please report it online or call 101, quoting serial 1023 of 15/10."
